System Building Efforts

Iowa’s Program Wide – Positive Behavior Supports (PW-PBS)

This initiative promotes the social-emotional competence for young children birth to five years of age.  It is built on the Pyramid Model:  effective workforce, nurturing and responsive relationships, high quality supportive environments, targeted social emotional supports, and intensive interventions.

Iowa Head Start Association/ICF Iowa State Based Training and Technical Assistance Center/Iowa Department of Education, Head Start State Collaboration Office

Training and networking sessions are planned through a collaborated effort of the three above offices. Each of these entities brings with them to this planning process their assessments, observation of trends and changes, and input from Head Start Directors throughout Iowa. Training and networking opportunities are targeted in various component areas and/or disciplines are developed.

Early Childhood Network

The Early Childhood Specialists and the Early Childhood Special Education individuals at the area education agencies comprise this group. They help provide training and technical assistance to the Statewide Voluntary Preschool Programs, the Early Childhood Special Education Classrooms and other early care and learning programs.
